Edo Deputy Governor to Partner with NSE

NSE courtesy visit to, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu, Deputy Gov, EDO State

The deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu has promised to partner with the Nigeria Society of Engineers, (NSE).

Hon. Shaibu made this promise on the 24th day of December, 2017, when the Chairman of the Auchi branch The Nigeria Society of Engineers, Hajia Engr. Mariam Wajeed Obomeghie, lead the branch on a courtesy visit to the deputy governor.

Comrade Shaibu stated that partnership with the NSE is of mutual benefit to both the government and the citizens. He encourage the NSE to monitor projects with a view to ensuring that they are done to both specification and standard. He called on the Engineering body to appropriately sanction erring members who cut corners to compromise the standard of projects.

The deputy governor used the occasion to congratulate the branch chairman, Engr. Obomeghie for being the first female chairman of the branch pointing out that she has reinforced the saying that “whatever a man can do, a woman can do better”.

On the 132/33KV sub station presently lying unused in front of the palace of Otaru of Auchi, Shaibu promised that the state government will ensure that it is mounted before the end of march pointing out that electricity is a very important part of the government plan to industrialize the state.

The deputy governor called on people of Edo state to play up sentiment that unites us and play down sentiments that divide us. He noted that when we play up sentiments that unite us, prosperity will be knocking on our door but when we play up sentiments that divides us, then poverty will be seen in our environment. He emphasized that never again will this government allow poverty to take the center stage in our state.

The high point of the event was the presentation of season greeting card to the deputy governor by the branch chairman, Hajia Engr. Mariam Wajeed Obomeghie
