The Edo State Government has approved N500 million as counterpart funding for the state’s SEEFOR public works programme, which will enable it access N2bn from the World Bank for infrastructural projects in the state.

The Police in Edo on Friday destroyed illegal refineries with more than 30 pits in Egonu community in Agbede, near Auchi.

Led by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Babatunde Kokumo, the police team first inspected the various refining camps before destroying them.

Kokumo, who spoke shortly after the destruction exercise, said that the illegal refineries were discovered by officers of the command who were combing the bush for suspected kidnappers and other criminals.

Edo State Government has revealed plans to  and develop over 58 tourist sites in the state to boost earnings from the tourism sector. This in the excavation of the historic Benin Moat, which is the world’s longest man-made earthwork as well as the development of Ososo Hills and Lampese Crocodile Lake both in Edo North.

Auchi – A fresh graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, Miss Uloko Lawrenta Apaume was accidentally shot death, yesterday, in her hostel while she was throwing a party to celebrate her graduation.

Motorists Urges FG to Reconstruct Ose Bridge in Owan West

Motorists on Monday appealed to the Federal Government ( FG ) to urgently reconstruct the old and narrow Ose Bridge at Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State to prevent vehicles from plunging into the Ose River.

Several vehicles from the western part of the country going to Abuja had plunged into the river killing many of the occupants.
